Pepper stared across at the rabbit standing awkwardly in the entrance of her burrow. Aimee. She was a pretty doe, really. You could tell she had come from a very prestigious warren. She had neat claws, she was a good weight, and her coat was a beautiful colour. Pepper felt small and fat, and basically inadequate in every way next to her. Sharing a burrow was going to be hard. She put herself down without anyone else's help very well. she consoled herself that she wouldn't be in the warren most of the time. She would be at her cliff. Daydreaming. Shunning reality. Like the pathetic little shit you are. No good, dirty fat fat fat unfit, no good rotten spoiled. Pepper took a deep breath. Not in front of someone else. It's not like it matters. She already knows you're pathetic. Everyone does. The little voice sneered. Pepper squeezed her eyes shut, trying to make it look like a slow and cool blink, and opened them. She was still standing there. Pepper felt like there was tension mounting. She hesitated a while, dithering with her front paws. the silence was a blanket, smothering her. She was drowning. Was it going to be like this for the rest of the time she was here. Pepper tried to choke some words out, but she couldn't. the voice was taunting her, over and over. Pathetic fat pathetic loser no good. Fat fat fat fat. What made you think you could ever be a hero? You're a blithering idiot. Pepper shoved past Aimee, clawing inside for breath for the 11th time since Aimee had moved in. She had been counting.

Aimee pushed herself up against the edge or the burrow to let her room mate shove past her, sighing as he dirt caught up in her fur. Where did this doe even go? That was it. How many times had this happened? Must have been at least ten, surely.
So Aimee decided to do a small investigation and follow her. Not in a creepy way, just a wondering-where-she-goes kinda way. So taking a deep breath, Aimee stepped out of the little burrow and started following the small doe, having no idea where she would end up...

Pepper was fast when she wanted to be. Run fatty run, run run run as fast as you can She tore around the corners, and up to the light, and fresh air. running acros the paddock, she took sharp left onto a man made trail. Back to your imaginary world. Because that's what you are. Imaginary. Pepper fought the voice. She struggled to smother it, but It simply grew stronger. She left the man made track, and was soon faced with huge drop. A thought occurred to her. She could jump. It could be over, the voice would die too. At least the horror of you would be gone. You disgusting nothing. Pepper skidded to halt before she went over the edge. She didn't want the voice's satisfaction. She walked a few paces away from the edge, and sat in her usual spot, in some tussock grass. The voice would always disappear when she was here. She closed her eyes, and prepared to sink into a daydream. It wouldn't take long. Just a flick of her mind, and she would be set. The hero again. The beautiful heroine. Not the fat lump. She would save lives. But she didn't for some reason. Instead, she listened to the wind, calming her. It tugged at her fur. The wind welcomed her. The cliff welcomed her. This was her true home. Where she truly relaxed. Where she was happiest. Her true home was beautiful. She felt herself slipping into a daydream. It was coming. Except now... she was saving anyone. She was with her new Burrow mate, Aimee. They were just sitting together, on the cliff. It was such a nice daydream... No. Pepper shook herself. She didn't want to feel that way. It was too confusing. She knew what the voice would say. She was thankful it wasn't there. The things it would have been saying. She shuddered. And noticed there was a rabbit nearby.

As the foliage above her opened up, Aimee could see into the small clearing Pepper had unknowingly led her to. Aimee felt the warmth of the summer air flow through her coat as she stepped inside - it was beautiful. Almost like her old home. Almost. It had the same summery glow, the same thin breathable air, the same sheen of sunshine that covered the same thick tussock grass. But it was missing something, someone.
Aimee sighed and pulled back from the memories she was risking falling into - now wasn't the time to think about him, although the lace seemed perfect. She would have to come back here sometime - she could probably remember the route.
And there was Pepper, in her own daydream, although it seemed that she may have noticed Aimee by now. Aimee wondered briefly what Pepper dreamed of, though she doubted it was of long ago summer affairs - Aimee doubted that Pepper had ever been in love, but she didn't know for sure.
Silence balanced lightly on the almost awkward atmosphere. Now that Aimee knew that Pepper was aware of her, she felt almost naked, because he was so private to her.
As she slowly fell back into her daydream of life with him, Aimee felt calm and relaxed, almost happy. But it was only a dream, a product of her imagination. It was probably this bank. It seemed to have an effect on her.

Pepper tried to sink into the tussock grass. This was perfect. Aimee had probably followed her from the borrow. The summer sun felt ironic, shining on her back. So taunting. As she watched,Aimee seemed to be slipping into a daydream. It seemed that two years of daydreaming ad taken its toll on the place. It was like a Bermuda triangle... except near a cliff. Pepper considered the options she had. She could run now, but Aimee might take that as giving the place up to her, and Pepper was NOT giving this place up. not for all the grass and burrows in the world. It was her true home, where she really belonged. It was more her home than the stuffy old burrows. She spent more time here, either way. She peered over the edge of the cliff again. A small jump... She gave herself a mental slap, which hurt almost as much as a real slap. Stop being melodramatic. She told herself. She could try confrontation, But she didn't think she had the bottle. Plus, she had to live with this rabbit for a while. It was already awkward, pretty much thanks to Pepper. There was another option, just sit tight and do nothing. Or... said a small voice, you could invite her to stay. Shutup. She told the voice, and settled down to sit tight.

As she arose from her daydream, Aimee walked over towards Pepper, singing softly to herself as she did so. The whole sky seemed to light up her surroundings and she was feeling relaxed and safe.
"Pepper?" she asked musically, as if she and Pepper had simply met at dinner. She fell back and leaned her head against a small rotten piece of wood as she closed her eyes and waited for a responce.
This was nice.
In her old life, as Aimee liked to refer to her life before moving as, Aimee ad been constantly under stress. Whether it was spending time with... him, or perhaps keeping herself looking nice, it was always as if there were a thick piece of elastic pulling her together.
Moving here - it had been like snipping right down that piece of elastic. She was free.
